The Sabbath School Department is the Church at Study. This department, which opens the rich and diversified program of the Sabbath day, provides one of the most important ministries in the local congregation, in line with the vision of the World Church that urges everyone to discover the living God through daily Bible study.
We understand that this unit is the primary religious education system of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and has four purposes: study of the Scripture, fellowship, community outreach, and world mission emphasis. This idea was well expressed by Adventist pioneer Ellen G. White, who wrote: “The Sabbath school is an important branch of the missionary work, not only because it gives to young and old knowledge of God’s word, but because it awakens in them a love for its sacred truths, and a desire to study them for themselves …. (Counsels on Sabbath School Work). (pp 10, 11)
The Sabbath school, if rightly conducted, is one of God’s great instrumentalities to bring souls to knowledge of truth.” (Idem. p.115)
While stressing the need to study the Bible on a daily basis, through a quarterly that is given free of charge to all our visitors alike, this department highlights fundamental Christian values such as devotion and commitment in the Lord’s vineyard, timeliness at regularly held church services, reverence for the place of worship, as well as mutual assistance and friendly relations among members.
